Dr Tony O’Sullivan has been involved in diabetes care, self-management and professional education for over 20 years. He has lived with type 1 diabetes for over 40 years, and is very familiar with the difficulties of living with diabetes and managing it effectively.
Former roles include Chair of the DFI, now Diabetes Ireland, IDF European Region, vice-chair of Primary Care Diabetes Europe, Board member of Primary Care Diabetes Society, Board member of the East Coast Area Diabetes Scheme, Course leader in the Irish College of GPs Diabetes Course, and Course Leader in the iHEED/Warwick University PGDip in Diabetes care.
We have run a structured diabetes clinic in Irishtown since 2001, and this service is supported by the HSE for medical card-holders with no additional charges. We manage people on tablets or insulin, including pumps, and are familiar with continuous glucose monitoring.
